About The Therapy

What is Psychotherapy?

“The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human can alter his life by altering his attitude.” William James.

In my experience it is the courageous who come in to therapy, recognizing that change is necessary for life to get better, be different, assume deeper meaning, be less painful.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than one’s fear” -Ambrose Redmoon

It’s a rich and compelling experience to meet with someone who wants to know everything about you as a means of understanding you at a deep and meaningful level. I believe this is what is necessary for the therapeutic relationship to be a catalyst for change. It takes courage and commitment to say that ‘everything’; commitment to healing, to moving forward, to gaining insight and self-awareness….it takes courage to change.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” Carl Jung

There are as many ways to engage in therapy as there are therapists and clients. Although I am adept at a plethora of psychotherapeutic treatments to include clinical hypnosis, I am eclectic in my approach to ‘making the unconscious conscious.”

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell

While no single quote can capture the evolving work of psychotherapy, a single session can initiate profound change for people willing to engage.
